Dog Behaviour Consultation
We have a 4 ½ year old male German Shepherd (Azi). He is a lovely dog but turned psychopathic when there was a knock on the door and/or someone came into the house. Due to his size and constant barking this behaviour was very intimidating to visitors. The slightest noise from outside the house and he would bark endlessly, nothing would silence him. His other big issue was other dogs. Despite running freely with all kinds of dogs at doggy daycare 3 days a week, once on the leash, no dog could come anywhere near him without him acting aggressively towards them. Because of this, my partner Kathy has been unable to walk him for more than 3 years and me having a 12 month shoulder injury from his leash lunging.
We contacted Jo and asked for a home visit. We thought having been large dog owners for most of our lives, we knew what we were doing, how wrong can you be. Within 10 minutes of Jo arriving, we had a dog sitting quietly. Over a 2 week period we had 2 visits from Jo where she helped us gain control and leadership. Now we have a dog that will respond instantly to our commands. Incredibly, Kathy can now walk him with confidence and he just about ignores other dogs.
Over a 2 week period, Jo has changed our lives and Azi’s. Our training is ongoing, but Jo has given us all the tools we need to succeed and she is only a phone call away if we need her. However, we are already enjoying a more relaxed and happier dog. We would without question recommend Jo to anyone getting a new dog or anyone who is having any kind of behavioural issues with their dog.
